Mangla

Entering Kashmir's Mirpur district from Punjab's Jhelum. Picture is captured from bastions of Mangla Fort, one of the famous forts guarding Mirpur's frontier.

While the main body water transverses thru Mangla Hydel plant and becomes 'Upper Jhelum Canal', the excess water in dam is released thru spillways as 'River Jhelum' as can be seen passing under the bridge. Both the bodies join each other after 72km at Rasul Barrage, from where 'Lower Jhelum' & 'Rasul-Qadirabad Link' canals originate.

Bab-e-Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani (the then PM who inaugurated bridge in 2011) and adjoining River Jhelum while entering Kashmir (Mirpur district) from Kallar Saidan tehsil (UC Dahan Gali).
